Greece Grants Large Taxpayers Extension for
E-Invoicing Implementation

The Greek Public Revenue Authority (AADE) issued a release on February 17, 2026, announcing a postponement of the mandatory e-invoicing deadline for large enterprises. Companies with a 2023 gross revenue exceeding EUR 1 million, previously required to comply by February 2, 2026, have been granted additional time for technical adjustments.

New Timeline and Transition PeriodUnder the revised schedule, the mandatory implementation will now officially commence on March 2, 2026. To facilitate a smooth rollout, AADE has established a transitional period running from March 2 through May 3, 2026. This window allows large-scale taxpayers to finalize their internal systems and ensure seamless connectivity with the national reporting infrastructure.

Strict Penalties for Non-ComplianceThe authority warned that failure to meet these new digital requirements will result in significant financial penalties. For VAT-taxable transactions, fines will equal 50% of the VAT due. For non-VAT transactions, entities using single-entry bookkeeping will face fines of EUR 500 per audit, while those using double-entry systems will be fined EUR 1,000 per audit.
