EU Launches Public Consultation on Revision of
E-Invoicing Directive

The European Commission has opened a formal public consultation on the revision of the EU’s e-Invoicing Directive. Running from 18 March to 10 June 2026, the initiative is part of a broader effort to update the legal and technical framework governing electronic invoicing across the Single Market.

The consultation is open to all stakeholders, including businesses, SMEs, e-invoicing service and solution providers, non-governmental organisations, civil society, academia, and public authorities. Contributions are submitted through an online questionnaire, with responses accepted in any official EU language.

The Commission’s primary objective is to build a broad evidence base that will inform its impact assessment and guide the design of potential solutions for the directive’s revision. Organisations and businesses participating are encouraged to register in the EU’s Transparency Register.
