E-Invoicing in Denmark: Simplify Digital Compliance with Melasoft
Denmark has long been a pioneer in digital invoicing. Since 2005, public sector suppliers have been required to send their invoices electronically through the NemHandel platform. Now, with the Danish Bookkeeping Act, more businesses are expected to adopt certified digital bookkeeping and invoicing standards.
If your company wants to stay compliant and future-proof, choosing the right technology partner is essential. Melasoft is here to help. We are a certified PEPPOL Access Point, hold ISO 27001 certification for information security, and are an official SAP Partner. That means your e-invoicing processes will be secure, fully compliant, and smoothly integrated with your ERP systems.

Denmark E-Invoicing Timeline
To help you plan ahead, here is a clear view of the rollout dates:
The Danish Business Authority publishes the official list of approved certified bookkeeping systems
Medium and large companies using standard software must start with certified systems
Companies with their own custom software must switch to certified solutions
Financial companies and sole proprietorships with turnover above 300,000 DKK must comply with digital bookkeeping
Businesses under this threshold are exempt from the certified
software rule but must still follow other bookkeeping laws.

How Denmark’s E-Invoicing Platform Works
Denmark uses a centralized model for e-invoicing, built around NemHandel. This platform lets public authorities and private suppliers exchange business documents securely and in a standardized way.
By law, any supplier doing business with the Danish public sector must connect its accounting or ERP system through an authorized access point. This ensures that the invoices meet Denmark’s security and data requirements.
Melasoft makes this easy. As a certified PEPPOL Access Point, ISO 27001 certified, and an SAP Partner, Melasoft helps you connect directly to NemHandel and stay compliant with no extra complexity.

Peppol in Denmark
In Denmark, the Danish Business Authority (ERST) is also the national Peppol Authority, approving access point providers. Through Peppol, Danish companies can securely exchange e-invoices not only with the public sector but also in cross-border trade across Europe.
Melasoft’s certified access point connects you to Peppol so you can send and receive invoices in the required formats, OIOUBL and PEPPOL BIS 3.0, meeting both local Danish and EU-wide standards.
Long-Term Goals for Peppol E-Invoicing
The Danish government aims to expand the use of Peppol for even more benefits:
- Promote cross-border trade
- Encourage electronic catalogs and orders for public procurement
- Make e-procurement the standard in public sector operations
- Remove technical barriers and make it easier to connect systems
- Boost B2B e-invoicing adoption in the private sector
