The Oman Tax Authority (OTA) has officially taken a major step toward implementing e-invoicing by signing a landmark agreement with Omantel, the country’s leading telecommunications provider. This collaboration marks a clear reactivation of the long-anticipated e-invoicing initiative that was originally scheduled for launch in 2024 but was later postponed.

   As of May 2025, the OTA-Omantel agreement signals a strong commitment to building a robust e-invoicing infrastructure across Oman. This partnership is expected to lay the groundwork for a modern, digital invoicing ecosystem, enhancing transparency, compliance, and automation in the tax system. 

2. What’s Next? 

While full technical specifications and rollout timelines are still pending, it’s becoming increasingly clear that the previous projection of an early-2026 go-live date is unlikely to hold. The re-engagement suggests a revised roadmap may soon be announced — potentially accelerating the original timeline or introducing phased implementation.
