KoSIT has officially released the English
translation of the GEBA

The Peppol Authority (KoSIT) has officially released the English translation of the GEBA (German Electronic Business Address) format specification version 1.0.1. This publication serves as a vital bridge for international service providers and stakeholders to understand and implement Germany’s new addressing standard within the Peppol network.

Core Features of GEBA:

• Global Standardization: GEBA is recognized internationally under the code 0246 (International Code Designator) according to the ISO/IEC 6523 standard.
• Identity Foundation: The scheme utilizes the German Business Identification Number (W-IdNr) as its mandatory core, ensuring every German business has a unique digital entry point.
• Flexible Architecture: Beyond the mandatory ID, GEBA allows for an optional “distinguishing feature” and “sub-addressing” to represent internal business units or specific accounting divisions.
• Peppol Ecosystem Integration: It is specifically designed for use in SMP/SML registrations and as an endpoint identifier for e-invoices within the Peppol post-award domain.
• Optional Adoption: The use of GEBA remains voluntary, allowing it to coexist with other established national or international addressing schemes.
